If it gummed up on your insides you'd probably need invasive surgery on your intestines. You, and every other person who's swallowed gum. Not to mention the fact that gum packages would have a warning label: "DO NOT SWALLOW." Don't worry about it.
This reminds me of when my mother would tell me as a child that drinking milk when you have the flu will make you sicker. She now tells me that she said that so I wouldn't drink so much milk.

In the 1950s, when I was a child, people said if you swallow your gum it will stick your guts together. Later, I heard it is not good for your kidneys.
