I am 37 and had mine off a year ago. I drive a school bus so it was a mix between a dork and "Ms. Chris is cool". I loved that i got them. Lets be honest, braces at any age are not ideal and certainly not attractive, HOWEVER the older you get the worse its going to look.
This being said it just depends on how bad your teeth are at this point. If they are bad enough you may be better off suffering for a year or two than going through your entire life with bad teeth.
If they are only semi-bad there may be other optons.
I would talk with my dentist. There are all kinds of retainers and temporary correctors which would be less invasive than actual braces.Health Question & Answer

You are never too old to make yourself look better! You don't need to care about what people think because it dosn't matter. At the end you are going to look better than anyone that talks about you that dosn't have straight teeth. (I'm not suggesting that anyone is talking to you though.) People a lot older than you get braces to. Braces are kinda cool.Health Question & Answer
You're never too old for braces speaking medically, but socially maybe. If you really don't sit well with the idea of braces then you can talk to you dentist and ask him/her about invisalign and if that is a possible option.
