Question: Im getting braces and I'm sooo scared.....?
I am getting spacers on Monday and braces on Tuesday but im scared because i think they will hurt and I don't know what the heck a spacer is.. Do either one hurt getting put on.?.? What colors should I get.?.? Any info u have would be good..*thanks*Health Question & Answer

okay, i have braces and i had spacers, when you get the spacers, they will hurt for maybe a day or two, DONT eat any gum, gummy bears, or anything sticky or chewy becuse the spacers WILL come out and its a pain. (spacers are the worst part of braces and you dont have them long) afer your spacers come your braces. after they are on they will hurt for 5 to 7 days. i reccomend eating yogurt, neutri grain bars, and anythng else really soft. after a wek you will be fine. and during the whole time you have braces, they will be tightened a few times and that only hurts for about 3 days. just do everything you are supposed to, dont chew gum and oull get them off in no time :)Health Question & Answer
the spacers dont really hurt the first day (but eat soft food and no gum because mine came out after 3 days and i was lucky the space was still there) spacers are tiny rubber bands that they put between your teeth for a space ( probably for the ring thingies at the back or an expander) and it doesnt hurt when the put the braces on but it will feel weird. youll be fine the first day but the second day it will start to hurt and the 3rd day will hurt a lot but if you cant take it anymore take advil or something. and after that the pain will go away and eat really sof t foods the first few days like yogurt or mashed potatoes.the brackets can fall off (brackets ar the sqaure metal thingies) if you are eating stuff like chips but usually not and its ok if you swallow them (try not to) and get purple or blue :) if you cant decide then get clear and decide next timeHealth Question & Answer
Relax, when the dentist put braces it does not hurt. Spacers are put in the back teeth to create space so that braces can be put. Putting spacers will not hurt but it will hurt afterwards as these push the teeth so create space. But these hurt for 4-5 days only and this can be taken care by taking pain killer tab. Similarly the braces hurt after they put wire in them and the wire starts putting pressure to move teeth. There will be pain for 4-5 days and you can take pain killer tab. Now braces they are just gonna hold your mouth open so you have to nothing for about an hour the braces do not hurt while you are getting them on but the next day or two could be painful so just eat soft foods

Braces aren't so bad. I was scared too. They put this thing in your mouth that makes you look hilarious to hold it open for a long time so they can work in there. That's what hurts-- your jaw being held open. It doesn't actually hurt when they put them on. What hurts is right after you get them on and right after they're tightened. It will feel like there's too much in your mouth and that you need to spit out all the metal. You'll get used to it though. It will hurt when you eat for a while, but it'll get better.
