Is it too late for a 22 year old girl to wear braces?!

Question: Is it too late for a 22 year old girl to wear braces.?
Ok.. For all my life i've had kina bad teeth but was too ashamed to get braces... Now I do realize that having bad teeth is even worth and regret not getting them as i was a kid...
Now i kind of decided on getting them, but some friends say i should not, cause they don't look that annoying and it sucks to have them for 2 years, and no boy would look at me ( and this really hurts dammet!)
So yeah I dont know what to do now. I was thinking about these things myself too and when people tell you the same it's even worse...
what do you guys think.?
Is it really a good idea to get them at 22.?Health Question & Answer

If you're self conscious about your teeth now, you don't want to carry this with you all through life!

Braces don't need to be the all metal kind we had as teenagers with coloured elastics on them - orthodontists can fit ceramic ones which are the colour of your teeth, or even fit them to the backs of your teeth so you can't see them. (Both of these options are a lot more expensive however)

12-24 months goes past very quickly, and then your new teeth will be with you forever! They will be sore and uncomfortable at first, and you will probably feel ugly and awkward, but you will soon get used to them. Boys will still look at you - and if they're the kind that would meet you, think you're great, but avoid you because of a cosmetic device that will be removed soon - stuff them! Who wants that kind of guy anyway.?

I say go for it. I know you shouldn't have to, but you can always practise a closed-mouth smile if you're really self conscious about people seeing your braces. Smile with your dimples and your eyes instead of your teeth - then when you have them off flash your pearly whites for everyone to see!

Depending on your budget, you could also consider having the front teeth removed and implants inserted. Wealthy people who want 'instant' results sometimes go ahead with this.

Whatever you decide, I hope that you have lots to smile about :)Health Question & Answer

you so should. Its a small price to pay to have beautiful teeth for the rest of your life. They actually do have porcelain braces, which are usually more for adults who are more embarrassed to have braces. what they do is the part that is normally silver (the bracket) is matched to the color of your teeth, so they are less noticable. I think that you should just do what you think is best for you, that will make you happy.Health Question & Answer

Listen, it is never too late to get braces. You are only 22 years old and you have your entire life ahead of you to look fabulous for. Get the braces; it will suck for a year or two but you will feel so much better about yourself when it's through.

also, ask your orthodontist about possibly getting "Invisalign" (clear braces) or clear brackets.

Health Question & Answer

No, adults get them all the time, often because they don't have access to
a proper dental insurance plan until they get a "real" job, and couldn't have afforded it when they were younger. Go for it. Health Question & Answer

I worked with a guy who had braces and he's 32.. sure it looks a little funny, but you'll be more happy in the long run.. Go ahead and do it, you won't regret it once they're off.Health Question & Answer

I am working with a 30 year old woman in braces. Ideally one should have them ear;ier in life, but I can see no reason why one should not get braces later if the orthodontist is sure that you will benefit from them.Health Question & Answer

No. They even have clear braces that you can hardly see.Health Question & Answer

Im a certified ortho assistant and believe me when I say its never too late! About 40% of my patient load consists of adults over the age of 35 and I even have a few into their late 60's. There are so many new products on the market today for people like you, its amazing. Ask if you are a candidate for Invisalign or clear braces. We also have gold and platinum for you diva's out there and 2yrs in treatment is only an estimate NOT a rule...you have options and most consultations are free so go for it!Health Question & Answer

no not at all...i'm in the same situation - i never wanted braces when i was young and now i really need them - my only concern is the cost and i could care less what people think how i look with them - you won't regret it after you have them off and your teeth are nice and straight...not to mention crooked teeth can lead to more dental problems later in life which would require surgery...that is what happened to my dad

and in the grand scheme of things 22 isn't that old...i mean at least this way you will avoid having braces (or crooked teeth) when you have your wedding (assuming you are not married and want to be one day) and for other important events later on in lifeHealth Question & Answer
