Answers:
First the doctor will take impressions(or molds as they call it) of your upper and lower teeth. Then she will take photographs of you, front view- smiling and relaxed face, side view- smiling and relaxed face. also she will take two x-ray views (panoramic and cephalometric).
You will be scheduled for the cementation of the brackets and the molar bands(sometimes buccal tubes are used).
The brackets are cememented on your teeth (from central incisors to second premolars). For your first molars, the dentist will put the molarbands. Sometimes the second molars are included, she either put molar bands or buccal tubes, depending on the plan of treatment. Then the wires are placed connecting the individual brackets to the molar bands. There are brackets that don't need rubbers as they have their own individual lock. However if the dentist chooses the conventional brackets, rubbers or ligature wires are placed to lock the brackets to the wire.
For the color of rubbers, you can choose the lighter ones or the pastel. Powder blue is my personal choice and lots of my patients love it. Purple is okay or mettalic grey, they look clean and tidy. Health Question & Answer

It's been awhile since I had them, but I'll tell you what I remember. The dentist glues a bracket on each tooth. Then, they snap a wire on and tighten. This part doesn't hurt, but you will feel soreness for the next few days from the tightness of the wire. As far as bands go, blue and dark purple are good choices, though they don't necessarily make your teeth look any whiter. Just steer clear of yellow bands.Health Question & Answer
there is really no need to be nervous. I've had braces twice. Basically all they do is clean the surface of your teeth with some sandy stuff. After that the cover your teeth in a sour liquid. They will wait a few minutes for that to dry up and then start putting the cement on your teeth to glue the brackets on. It is really a rellativly painless process, but your mouth will be sore for a few days afterward.

braces are no big deal. what happens is they make you sit in a chair (of course they're not going to make you stand) and they get a mold of your mouth, take pictures of your mouth (they did with me anyway). next, they put these things in your mouth. they are there to keep your mouth open until they need it closed. they they put on the glue and the brackets. the things they put in your mouth can get uncomfortable, but it's really fine. braces are not that big of a deal.
and for colors, do not get red or pink. they make your gums look like they're bleeding. and don't get black either. that makes if look like you don't have teeth. i prefer pastels, but that is just my preference. purple is fine.

First they put on the brackets (the little stones) and then you come back in 2 weeks or so to put on the wires and bands....
I recomend you get silver. They make your teeth look whiter rather then white bands that stain really easily.

Back in my day, they used wire only. No bands.
Talk about a mouth full of metal...
Something darker like purple would probably
make your teeth look whiter, yes.

I don't remember what they do exactly.. you should ask your orthodontist to talk you through it step by step. It's not really bad at all.
About colors... NEVER EVER get yellow because it makes it look like your teeth are yellow!! And don't get white, because that gets stained easily. Red seemed to be the best.Health Question & Answer

I just got mine today!! They put a little thing in your mouth to hold it open, sand your teeth down then rinse it with some gross liquid, then they glue on the brackets and then the wire and color. Your mouth will be sore and I got pink and black!! Hope i helpedHealth Question & Answer
