Toddler Dental Hygiene?!

Question: Toddler Dental Hygiene.?
I know dental hygiene is important, but what's going on. My sister in law just spent $5000.00 to get her 3 year old daughters teeth fixed. I have a friend that just told me she's about to spend $2000.00 to get 4 cavities filled and possibly a root canal on her 2 year old.

Are all these procedures really necessary for baby teeth.? At what age are you suppose to start taking your child to the dentist.?

you start taking your child at two. But honestly to help prevent the cavities they should brush well, floss and use Act mouthwash for kids(my daughters love the bubblegum flavor one) I even use it for my self because it has fluoride in it and it hardens the teeth. Cavities are basically soft teeth, so you can see where im getting at. A lot of these mothers give there kids way to much candy and juice and they don't properly take care of there children's teeth. Not realizing that they can get cavities just as well us adults. But if your child has a cavity you defiantly need to get it filled. If not the child will be in a lot of pain. Ive seen plenty of children with a mouth full of cavities. Its a shame but most of the time its because parents don't know how to properly take care of there own teeth let alone a child's, hope this helpedHealth Question & Answer

Take your child as soon as you can or as soon as you notice "problems". A child can easily be seen at the age of 3 without too many problems in terms of getting a check-up and such.

As far as getting teeth fixed, that is totally up to you and what the dentist recommends. Pulling a child's milk teeth might not be the safest thing to do, however it could be the cheapest... however it is important to get them treated so the infection doesn't get worse.

You can start brushing their teeth when they come in and teach your child how to brush correctly, just make sure you use fluoride free toothpaste and a tiny children's toothbrush.

The best solution is to PREVENT the cavities through hygenine and better diet. Limit the soda and sugary treats and practice brushing the teeth at least 2x a day. Health Question & Answer
