Question: Do i have to wear my retainer 24/7.?
It sucks so bad, 2 days ago i had my braces taken off. I was soooo happy for one glorious day, showing all the girls my beautiful smile. Some old lady even complimented me on it!!!
But *sigh* all good things come to an end, the next day i went to get my retainers and they said i had to wear this thing for 12 weeks straight, Its invisible but if you look close you can still see it.
It hurts so much when i take them off and then put them back on.
I wouldn't mind wearing them at night but 12 weeks without taking them off! Thats so not cool, Theyre like three times as annoying as braces!
So i was wondering, what would happen if i only wore it at night.? would my teeth go crooked again.? or would i just have to wear them longer.?Health Question & Answer

please wear them as your orthodontist has instructed because at the moment you are in the most crucial time where relapse can occur....and if you still want a beautiful smile after braces in a couple of weeks where you retainers...

12 weeks is rather long. After I had my braces off, and wore my retainer for about a month, the retainer didn't even do anything. I could leave it out for a week and it would feel exactly the same when I put it back in.

it may or may not be crooked but you'll just prolong the time you would wear the retainers, and don't worry your dentist will suggest that you wear your retainers at night, sooner or later, depends on you though =)Health Question & Answer

A lot of people I know didn't wear theres and their teeth look like they did before they got braces.

my brother has the same thing he used 2 have to wear them 24/7 except when eating but after a week or so he only had 2 wear them at night hopefully the same happens with youHealth Question & Answer
retainers are freaking annoying indeed. however, they are so neccessary, you'll prbably find that if you start wearing it only at night this early since youve have your braces off, that when you go to put it in at night, the movement throughout the day wil make the retainer alot tighter and it will hurt much much more. and that will be the case night in night out. as frustrating as they are, its worth it to just keep it in, youll get used to it after a couple more days and youll be smooth sailing. it incredible how much your teeth can move in like half a day, but they do, and its best to prevent it.
