I'm a little kid and im getting surgery. Do any of you have any idea of how i can get over my dreaded fear. It's in early November and im so scared. I might even get paranoid. Please, if you have any suggestions on how i can get over this fear and calm down on the day and before also. Thx if you help.Health Question & Answer

Ok honey, it's gonna be ok. I just recently had 4 baby teeth pulled. Two on the top back had no permanent teeth behind them. So all I have are holes! Anyways, I got SO nervous. But, I had them put me to sleep while they did it. (I had to be put to sleep, my mouth doesn't numb.) And boy, am I happy they did! All I remember was them giving me an IV, which doesn't hurt any worse than a shot or a blood test, and then waking up to my parents smiling at me. And I had NO pain what so ever! It was pretty wonderful! So there is NOTHING to be worried about sweety, you'll do great!Health Question & Answer
Knowledge is power! Find out what you can about the surgery. How long will it last.? What are they going to do.? How will they put you to sleep.? How long will you be asleep.? How will you feel when you wake up.? All these questions and more you can ask your mom or doctor. Make a list. The more you know about what to expect the less you will imagine. I know that you have had other times that you thought were going to be awful, then whenever the dreaded event took place you were like, "Gee, that wasn't bad at all!".
