Tooth/mouth infection?!

Question: Tooth/mouth infection.?
I posted a question a few days ago about what dental treatment I could have whilst breastfeeding. I had the tooth taken out but I now think my mouth is infected and will be calling the dentist first thing in the morning but am I okay to keep breastfeeding in the meantime.?
Where I had the anaesthetic injections it is swollen, my tongue is huge, my mouth tastes revolting, I'm finding it hard to swallow and painkillers are doing nothing to help. Does this sound infected.? Is there anything I can do to make it better.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
If i was in your situation i think that i would be more inclined to go and see my doctor rather than my dentist. He may refer you back to the dentist but if you have an infection he will be more able to explain what is safe while you are breastfeeding and to ensure that there is not more going on.
I would say that you definitely have a rather severe infection and i do think it would be better to see your doctor.Until you get to see him gently rinse your mouth with warm salt water as this will help with the infection.
The important thing is to get medical treatment as soon as possible because it does seem odd that your tongue is swollen.I do hope that you feel better soon and that i have been of some help.Health Question & Answer

You can still breastfeed but don't take any meds unless given to you by a dr. Try using an anti-bacterial mouth wash such as listerine, this may help especially with nasty taste. If you get much worse i'd go to the er room. Good luck hope u and jnr ok Health Question & Answer
