Question: Do you think that digital x-ray(rvg) is the best choice for my dental office( dental professional only).?
Answers:
There are 2 types:
1. intraoral CCD sensor with a lead, or
2. PSP sensor plate.
1:PROS - the CCD is cheaper to set up, pictures are almost instantaneous
CONS - you will need more than one CCD sensor, the sensors are expensive to replace, the sensors are much bulkier than normal film
2:PROS: the PSP is even thinner than normal plates, the resolution is better than CCDs, the PSP plates are quite cheap (I have about 20)
CONS: the initial epuipment setup is much more expensive, it takes a few minutes to process the film
The BEST thing about digital Xrays is the ability to control the brightness, contrast, and enlargement. also the lack of chemicals. Dosage of Xrays is negligible whether you are digital or old way. But NEVER throw away at least a basic wet Xray set-up with some normal films. One day your computer will crash, and you will have to fall back on the old way. Happened to me twice.
I also like to enlarge them on the computer screen and then draw with a marker to show patients. You can also print them out for kids, but use a dedicated printer with photo quality paper.Health Question & Answer

Yes. It's convenient especially now that we are using computers. We can easily download it for future reference. It can be used for patient's viewing to promote patient's involvement in the diagnosis. also it has less radiation. Health Question & Answer
