Does ALL whitening dental products damage enamel?!

Question: Does ALL whitening dental products damage enamel.?
I just purchased a WhiteGlo whitening system with dental trays that you squirt whitening gel into. I have heard that all whitening products are stripping a layer of enamel off my teeth. Is that true.?
I also have a white filling in my front tooth - will whitening my teeth at home somehow affect that filling.?

also, does professional whitening [say Zoom, for example] damage enamel, too.? If I was to get my teeth professionally whitened using Zoom [at my Dentist] what are the pros/cons.? Do I need 'touch-ups' in the future.?

Thanks.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Whitening does not remove enamel from the surface of the tooth. What it does is remove surface stains to a degree and brings your teeth back to their natural colour. It can make your teeth pourous after using so avoid any heavfily coloured food, red wine, curries tea and coffee etc for a few hours after using. Zoom whitening is the exact same as home bleaching its just speeded up for people who have no patience to wait for a result from the product. Before trying this I would go to your dentist to make sure you are a suitable candidate for bleaching. There are many reasons why you might not be suitable.
When you have a composite (white filling) restoration these will not change colour and will have a contrast to the rest of the teeth so will need to be replaced when you have achieved the colour you want. Hope this helps good luckHealth Question & Answer

I wouldn't use all the home products, some are okay, others aren't. If you feel your teeth are stained then go to the dentist. Health Question & Answer
