I had three teeth removed five days ago and stitches were needed. Advice needed, please?!

Question: I had three teeth removed five days ago and stitches were needed. Advice needed, please.?
The stitches are the non dissoluble kind and I am going back on Tuesday to have them removed. As the extraction is towards the front of my mouth, the 'holes' are visible and I can see a white film 'skin' covering the stitches. Is this normal.? I am on antibiotics and there is still alot of aching. Link to my last question below as that explains that it was no straight forward extraction! He stole my smile, that butcher, sorry, dentist ;0(Health Question & Answer

I can't believe a dentist in 2008 would use stitches in your mouth that have to be removed. What you are seeing with the white film is probably the beginning of healing even though there are stitches. Because of the moistness of your mouth it is much different than stitches on dry skin. I hope he isn't the only dentist in your area. I would not have mouth touched by him again. But of course you do have to see him to have your stitches removed. I can remember that you had small pieces of teeth coming out of the extraction area. Did he make a partial plate to replace the teeth that were removed. If so you have to ask him to help you put that in. If you wait your gums wil swell making it extremely possibly impossible to put the plate on your gums because of the pain involved. Believe it or not once you get the partial plate in there really isn't any pain. For at least a month or so I would remove it only for the purpose of cleaning. Again until completely healed the gums will swell. I'm sorry this happened to you. I know all will be alright and you will have your kind smile back quickly. The best to you!!!Health Question & Answer

Your healing is normal so was the extraction. Extraction was typical, your just a bit scared a complicated wisdom tooth extraction wouldve involved a lot more which would require general anesthesia such as cutting into the jaw bone for a tooth growing horizontally into the bone, be glad you didnt have that. People with complicated extraction go to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and swell and i mean chipmunks carry too many nuts in their mouth. With your extraction your probably only get a throbbing pain. At five days there shouldnt be much pain could be a dry socket, have you used a straw, make any sucking action with your mouth, or smoked.? The stitches are there to help clot but since you said you kept bleeding it might not have formed if you didnt use any gauze or the tea bags. With the pain killers you might just be scared and actually not need them, i took them for 3 days but only really needed for 2 days but i kept taking them at the slightest pain but wasnt needed.Health Question & Answer
