Loose, chipped tooth?!

Question: Loose, chipped tooth.?
I have a tooth that has been chipped for awhile, but never bother me, so I never went to the dentist. When I was eating dinner tonight, a big peice of my tooth chipped off and now the small piece of tooth thats left is a little loose. It hurts, but im not in severe pain. It feels more uncomfortable than anything. My problem is that its Friday night and there are no dentists around me that are open. What can I do until I can get to a dentist.? And how soon should I try to get to one.? Would the emergency room be abel to do anything for me.?Health Question & Answer

Take some IB profen or Tylenol. You can buy stuff at the store that is meant to be used with a filling falls out and put some over the chipped parts which will help a little with pain too (primarily with hot/cold). That stuff is only temporary.

You should be OK until Monday, but most dentists have an answering service and you could probably ask them if that would be considered dental emergency enough to get the dentist to come in and see you (if your a regular patient)Health Question & Answer

The emergency room will advise you to seek dental help during regular office hours. some dentists have an emergency number on their answering machines that you can call but I am sure you'll be paying through the nose for after hours help. I am not a dentist or anyone affiliated with that industry but I do know something that has worked for me in the past. You can go to your local grocery store or health food store and pick up some capsules, they are golden seal and echinacea. sometimes they contain orange peel as well but that just helps with digestion so its not a necessity. you cannot take these longer than 7 days but that should give you ample time to get to a dentist. depending on your weight/body mass you should take roughly 2 capsules 3 times a day. the pharmacist should be able to help you break the dosage down to your specific requirements. feel better soon :)Health Question & Answer

the first thing you don't want to do is wiggle your tooth. leave the loose tooth alone to avoid causing more pain and a displaced position of your tooth once it is fixed. when eating, do not bite down on it and avoid touching it. unfortunately, there are no dentists in emergency rooms; but, some dentists to have open offices on saturdays. if i were you, i would go immediately tomorrow. i'm not sure why your tooth chipped off, but you do want some dental attention before anything worse happens. just remember to avoid touching it and see a doctor tomorrow.Health Question & Answer

hi ya
i would get to a dentist as soon as you can the reasons being....
* the chipped tooth might be more sensitive now
* the chipped tooth might chip more easy now, trust me, you don't want the nerves exposed!
* the fact that it's loose means you are at risk of losing it

my advice:
** do you have a dentist.? if so, call their number, often they have answering machine messages saying IF this is an emergency call this # etc.
most dental offices have that now

good luck!Health Question & Answer

well you can wait a couple days just call your dentist and make an appointment asap.. just tell them you are in pain maybe they can get you in sooner.. it may not bother you right now but you will start sooner or later :(
and dental pain is the worse to have.. it leads to headaches and can cause brain damage if not taken care of!! :(

The ER won't do anything they will just give you pain meds and tell you to see your dentist. Try to see them ASAP so they can save the tooth. try not to chew on it untill you see the dentist.Health Question & Answer

im not sureHealth Question & Answer

first, do you have your chipped tooth still.?
if you do, you need to put in in milk to keep it alive.
secondly, there is a way to get to a dentist. if you call a dentist they can come in for you but it will cost extra.
im 13 years old and last year i was playing softball and i was playing catcher, we were doing simple pitches but it was enough to damage my tooth when it hit me in my mouth.
my tooth felt really loose and it was a lot lower than my other one and i had a fat lip and i was bleeding alot. we had called a dentist that would come in just for us. thankfully they put a brace on my teeth that i had to wear for about a month and they were eventually able to put it back in place.
they told us if we didnt see him that day, my tooth probably would have died and i would have to get a fake one.
yours is probably not this serious but definately needs to be checked on
