Oh you poor thing - I'm not sure, I've not had my wisdom teeth out... When I was 11, I had 8 of my back teeth out and can remember holding a bath towel coming home to soak up the blood.... and my Mum feeding me Bovril.. Years later my naughty Dentist said "I'll have those soon", gesturing towards my Wisdom teeth - and I said, "No you won't" and they are still fine and working well some 24 years or so later!!
I have recently undergone much more serious operations and found that the waiting is the worst thing - there are always others in the hospital worse off that you.. I have had a full abdominal hysterectomy, with bonuses, which involved two long operations - I am sure that, you being male, your teeth will be worse!!
I recommend ibuprofen (unless the hospital gives you something stronger) and alternating hot and cold compresses to the lower face and neck (the good old stand by of a bag of frozen peas and a wheat bag which warms in the microwave)... These are great for swelling and very comforting.
Have a good supply - for when you get home - of ice-cream, yoghurt and soups, just in case you don't fancy proper food - and don't forget the Bovril (the salt is great for healing the gums)...
In case you have bad problems stock up with a bottle of Cordysl mouth wash - not a nice taste but medically far superior to others - and one of those tiny bottles of Anbesol which you can apply directly to the gum to deaden any pain (almost failproof - no good for absess but has worked on everything else...
There - you thought I wasn't going to be helpful, didn't you!!
Good Luck for Thursday - I hope it all goes well... Health Question & Answer

every body reacts differently to pain so while one person might hurt for a week ,you might only be sore for a day or two. best advice is to take a good strong painkiller, ibuprofen is good for dental pain as it is also an anti inflamatory ,before the freeze wears off and to stay on the maximum dose for a day or two ,food wise don't eat or drink anything until the freeze wears off and just soft foods for the rest of that day and the next ,after a day or two you should be as right as rain !!Health Question & Answer
