(i will probably get them off when i'm 15 and half.)Health Question & Answer

Answers:
i turned 14 september 1 and i have had my braces since october 2007.
i get mine off november 17, and im not going to lie, im pumped!

im a freshman too. i get how you feel. most of my friends had their braces off by seventh grade, the exact time i got mine! it sucks, but its better than having them when youre older. my friend natalie has parents who both have braces, so, pick.

1) highscool for 2 years, with people you probably wont talk to after you graduate, surrounded by countless kids with braces and acne and awkward stages. hmmm.
2) get them when your older. you may feel self conscious about them now, but, when your 30 and trying to close a professional buisness deal or greet an old friend, it may be slightly embarrasing to have that oh so attractive mouth of metal. not to mention, not a lot of adults have them.
3) dont get them at all. this i would not suggest. my parents made me think of my braces as a lifelong gift. i would have beautiful teeth for the rest of my life and i would be happy that, in the long run, i dealt with 2 days of pain every month. also, this option may not be very attractive.

just a warning - they will hurt. getting them on for about a week, whenever you get them changed 2-3 days. take advil or motrin! thats where i went wrong. i wouldnt swallow the deng pill and i suffered through mouth cuts, broken brackets and achey teeth.

you'll have your braces for the same amount of time i did. trust me, the time will fly. since we're in high school, we devote our lives to homework, sports, clubs, dating, activities, finals, making money, and working toward that not so far thing we call the future. believe me, you'll be happy you have braces once their gone, and once youre a few months in they'll seem more normal than putting on clothes.

a suggestion when you get them - no. hard. foods. wow. i ate jaw breakers, gummy worms, apples, carmel, pears, peppermints, butterscotches - you name that hard, sticky food, i ate it. thats a no no! you WILL lose brackets and it WILL hurt. dont eat them until your accustomed with your braces and the cement had hardened to your teeth for a few weeks. just a helpful reminder. dont want you to be in pain. :]

look at the bright side. a plus for me - this totally broke me from my obsessive nail biting. i would chew my nails until they would bleed. now, i have beautiful, long nails, and straight teeth! im very happy.

when i was first told to get braces, i will admitt it, i cried. (part of this was because i had to have an expander, which litterally pushed your jaw seperte ways to make more room. painful as all get out. but anyway...) im a scardy cat for that stuff. i hate people messing around in my mouth...neverthe less gluing stuff to my teeth! im like a painaphobic. if its going to hurt me, im going to flip!

i now look back on that and go "W.O.W." ive come such a long way, and its almost over and i CAN NOT BELIEVE IT!

just get them. it isnt life ending, and your smile will be with you forver. why not have one you love.?
if you have anymore questions about braces or something, email me. id be happy to help you out more.

good luck! hope i helped you! enjoy your braces, they'll be off soon enough!Health Question & Answer

Though you are late for braces but if your teeth need them and the orthodontist has advised you to have them then you must go for them. Age is no bar for braces. However if you have braces at around 11-12 then the braces period is less. In your case you may have to wear them longer to achieve the results. You can have braces anytime and you should get them sooner rather than later! My children didn't get them but insisted on their children having them. I know they regret not having it done. Your bite is corrected and THAT makes a big difference in your jaw in later years. Do it do it do it ! Good luck!Health Question & Answer

Absolutely not! You don't want to end up in my position, where another 15 years down the line you're regretting not having them.

I get mine in about a month, and I really wish I'd had them done when I was young... Talk about being the only one you know with them :)Health Question & Answer
