The only way it would hurt is if they try to do the root canal when you still have an infection in the tooth. The novacaine cannot work properly if there is any infection so make sure you get that taken care of first and then have the procedure done. It is not bad at all. Just sounds that way. I have had one root canal done and I was scared because of all the horror stories people told me. It took a little longer than a filling. I had no pain afterwards either.

not bad with novacaine.. you feel pressure.. mabye some pinching sensation..
the needles going in to your gums to inject the novacain will hurt worse than the drilling.

Well It is not that bad. I actually got my root pulled out, in the operation itself you wont feel anything but afterwards just buy some ice cream and eat it to sooth the pain.Health Question & Answer
