I have overbite and i was wonderingHealth Question & Answer

Answers:
No, ideally and with most cases an overbite correction will require the removal of all four permanent bicuspids, unless these are deciduous or supernumerary teeth that are being extracted. When any teeth are extracted, the same upper or lower corresponding tooth will also need to be extracted so that these teeth will align correctly when the malocclusion has been corrected. The upper and lower teeth should be of the same size (such as molar with molar or bicuspid with a bicuspid) especially when the teeth rest together interlocking; this is to prevent many dental problems such as excessive wear of the enamel, TMJ disorder, breaking or fracturing of the teeth during mastication. This is the main reason we restore missing teeth with bridges or implants.

Not everyone needs to have extractions when correcting an over bite; depending on their age and growth pattern, some patients need their arches widened by use of a palatal expander in order to give the teeth the room needed to correct their alignment. This is something your orthodontist will decide if you need based on your specific dental issues. Feel free to discuss any questions with your orthodontist or his assistants; they are all trained, informed and capable of answering any, and all, of your questions, no matter how silly they may seem to you. We prefer to have informed patients that take an interest in their own dental care. Good luck with your pending treatment!Health Question & Answer

I didn't get my teeth pulled when I got my braces...mainly because I oddly have all my teeth, except for the wisdom's.
Depends on how your orthodontist feels about it. Consult with him or her just in case you are worried.Health Question & Answer

Because it gives the orthodontist more room to pull the teeth back. If not, there will be some major over crowding! Health Question & Answer
