How long do you keep gauze on the wisdom tooth after removal?!

Question: How long do you keep gauze on the wisdom tooth after removal.?
I just had one impacted wisdom tooth removed this morning. I'm still bleeding (definitely not as bad as when it was first removed) and I'm still biting down on gauze. How long do I keep the gauze in.? Should I take it out even if I'm still bleeding.?Health Question & Answer

You should be able to remove the gauze after two or three hours. Use a tea bag dampened with warm water and bite on it for a while. My dental office told me about this and I had read about it someplace as well. It really does work. Your extraction site will ooze blood for a day or two, but that is normal.Health Question & Answer

The gauze should have been in there for about 30 minutes after the extraction. You are going to see blood oozing for a day or 2 (it looks like more because the blood mixes with your saliva)
If it becomes really annoying ball up some more gauze (moisten it a little) and bite down on it for another 30 minutes, and like the other post says a moistened tea bag works really well too.
Good luck!Health Question & Answer

This will sound weird, but when I had my wisdom teeth out, I took the gauze out and instead used a dampened tea bag. Like I said, it sounds wierd. However, it stopped the bleeding. My mother had told
me about it.......Health Question & Answer

for the first couple days, and then its fine to take out. they only tell you to keep it in there for the bleeding. once its only spotting, then your fine to take it out with no worries.Health Question & Answer
