Drinking beer after wisdom tooth extraction?!

Question: Drinking beer after wisdom tooth extraction.?
I had one of my bottom wisdom teeth out on Monday morning (it is now Friday night, so, 5 days ago). It was a simple procedure but I do have dissolvable stitches. It stopped bleeding on day 2 and it is not painful. I have not taken any pain medication.

So, is it alright to drink beer tonight.? Just a few - I don't want to risk throwing up. I've read that the alcohol can start it bleeding again or prolong the healing.? I've even heard that beer is bad because the yeast will infect the wound. So, any REAL answers .? :)
Thanks in advance!

ps. Any advice on how I should quit drinking and/or accept Jesus Christ as my personal saviour will not be read or appreciated.Health Question & Answer

You are fine to have a few beers, just use common sense, be cautious and do avoid the pain medication; drinking can intensify the effects of pain medication as well as effect your liver. You are past the time of developing a dry socket, which means the bone is covered with the clot well enough that drinking won't dislodge it or cause it to break free. Be sure to keep the area cleansed well with warm salt water to reduce bacteria and also keep up good oral hygiene both of which will help to promote good healing. Have fun but don't over do it!Health Question & Answer

Alcohol should be avoided until after the 72 hour mark.

So, if it's been 5 days, it should be fine.

The reason for no alcohol is due to it 'drying' out the socket, but if it had stopped bleeding three days ago, it's a good sign that the socket is already starting to heal.

Be careful, and if something feels funny, or you notice the 'clot' falling out, stop- and check, but it should be fine from the fifth day onwards.

Health Question & Answer

It is fine to drink beer. The wound should be healed by now, if your stitches were not dissolvable they would have taken them out between five and seven days. The only way the yeast from the beer would infect it is if you let the beer sit in your mouth for an extended period of time. Just don't mix the beer with pain meds if you do get pain, that will damage your liver!!Health Question & Answer
