Why does a root canal not hurt as much nowadays?!

Question: Why does a root canal not hurt as much nowadays.?
I have to have a Root Canal next week. I am freaking out because I am a wimp. Anyways, when I ask people if it hurts, I hear people say that it used to be painful, but nowadays, it isn't that bad. What do they do differently.? What makes the difference.?Health Question & Answer

Basically it will seem like a longer filling appointment from your point of view.
The reason it was so much more painful years ago is because of the types of anesthetic. Back in the older days they couldn't properly anesticize so as the dentist entered the nerve canal patients would feel a lot of intense pain.Health Question & Answer

The anesthetics on the market are far superior than they used to be. also root canal techniques themselves have improved making a root canal less invasive than years past. Health Question & Answer

Just had one two weeks ago. Normally my teeth are really sensitive, but this time no problems.

Better drugs, better techniques, better dentists because of better training.Health Question & Answer
