What is involved in the pulling of baby teeth?!

Question: What is involved in the pulling of baby teeth.?
My 6 year old daughter has not lost any teeth yet. I noticed yesterday that her two bottom teeth have her permanent teeth growing in behind them. They have broken through the gum line and (with my best estimation) have grown in about a quarter of the way. I will be taking her to the dentist next week.

It is my understanding that they will most likely have to pull her baby teeth if they do not come out on their own (one is a tiny bit wiggly, the other isn't wiggly at all). What is involved in the extraction procedure for a child.? Do they give her Novocaine.? I know the dentist is going to go over all of it next week, it is just driving me nuts :)

Thank You!!

Since this feature is pretty common ( we call the shark teeth for fun!). It freaks parents out, but it's normal. As the teeth grow in, the pressure from the tongue will continue to push them forward and eventually the baby teeth will come out. Some dentist like to take them out either because of $$ or just because. I leave them and generally the baby teeth are out by 6 months or so. I think it's more traumatic to numb up a child. I like for nature to take its course, even though it's slower. The baby teeth may not feel loose because of the pressure from the adult teeth. The best motion to loosen them is to twist then side to side.
Don't worry and don't get your kid off to a bad start with numbing.

I had the same problem when I was her age. They do the normal procedure for removing baby teeth. They just use a little numbing shot which doesn't hurt much and then pull them out which doesn't hurt but she will be numb for about two hours after words.Health Question & Answer
