Despite popular belief wisdom teeth don't cause crowding... what they do is push against the back of your second molars and take away bone support for those teeth. It can eventually cause you to lose your second molars. That takes years though. Its best not to put off taking your wisdom teeth out though especially if you're in pain. The younger you are the easier your recovery is because your bones are softer than someone who is well into adulthood. The best time to have them out is 16-21. also, the younger you are chances are that your roots haven't finished forming on your wisdom teeth making the risk of nerve injury much less. Don't wait to see!! I wish I would have got mine taken care of when they told me too! But I didn't, now I have been through so much pain, I finally got my impacted wisdom tooth out on Tues, and they found out there was a cyst underneath the tooth!! Now I have to way for the results to make sure it was a cancer containing cyst, and they think I might have a little bit of nerve damage, so I have to do all kinds of testing, and I have to take MRI test on Monday! Not fun! I wished I wouldn't have waited so long! Please get yours out Asap, the pain was tolerable at first so I didn't go, but out of nowhere it got really bad and stayed that way, bad where I went to the ER! So don't wait another day! Only your Dentist can tell you that by taking x-rays. Just get them out if they hurt, you will have to eventually.Health Question & Answer
