Do you remember how many injections the dentist gave you.? And is it on the lower.?
Usually if it is on the lower and the dentist has to give any more than 1 injection you will feel some discomfort when the freezing comes out. This is because of the amount of muscle the needle needs to pass through to get close to the nerve. If this is the case the discomfort should pass within a week. If not, I suggest you call the dentist tomorrow morning and see what they say.

Oh my gosh, root canal is the worst most painful experience ever. I had to have like 5 injections cos my mouth wouldnt numb. I was 6 months pregnant at the time. Have u had your root canal done.?.?.? My dentist took two days to do it as the 5 injections took too much time. First visit were the injections and then he made a HUGE hole in my teeth. Second visit was TWO weeks later. Could u believe for TWO weeks i had to live with a huge whole in my back teeth. I was in so much pain and they wouldnt give me an earlier appointment, he gave me another 4 injections and then did what he did!
Sorry, dont mean to bore u but i had such a bad experience...(year and half later) i go to visit the dentist last week, he checks my teeth and tells me i need a root canal...................................... recently changed my dentist, i dont want 5 injections again cos the stupid dentist cant do his job properly.......Health Question & Answer

this is just a guess,
i'm guessing it's bruising where the needle stabbed your gum
or just ask your dentist at your next appointment.Health Question & Answer
