Can a filling in my tooth come out?!

Question: Can a filling in my tooth come out.?
After one weekend, some teeth on the left side of my mouth(one on the top and one on the bottom) started to be extremely sensitive to cold. The pain hasn't subsided, and now I have to drink water on one side of my mouth like a gangster. also- I just got a filling in the side of the bottom tooth that hurts (the 2nd furthest back molar) and when I looked closely...it looked like there was a little hole there (confirmed by others!). Granted, I hadn't looked at the tooth while the filling was in so I don't know if it's my brain playing tricks. But the tooth on top has no reason to be hurting. And he hurt me when he was doing the filling...I told him that the drill was hurting very badly and all he did was switch to a louder drill. Should I go back and tell them I think my filling came out.? Thanks.Health Question & Answer

I'd have it checked out by your dentist just to be sure. Fillings can and do come out. A lot of times people even swallow them!

It may be really sensitive because it was just done, or it may have been a deep filling (near the nerve) where a root canal probably would have been the better option, but maybe the cost was prohibitive.? In this case the sensitivity will most likely continue because the amalgam will conduct the cold down to your nerve. Ouch!

Persistent pain after you've given it time to heal is always a sign that something is wrong though, and you should always contact your dentist in this case. Good luck.Health Question & Answer

Totally! Fillings come out all the time. It's simply physics. The mouth can be a terrible place to be if you're a bonding chemical. You're constantly surrounded by digestive acids and being hit by bits of food, other teeth and the tongue. Just set an appointment for them to take a look and they can tell you for sure. Don't leave it too long or there's a chance of infection and that is NEVER fun.Health Question & Answer

Yes fillings can come out these days you get the clear filling that matches tooth enamel. So you really can not tell if its out or not. also they may have not filled the hole completely. If you are experiencing pain you should go back and get it recheck.Health Question & Answer

Fillings unfortunately do come out. either with gum or other chewy things at the main culprit. Try ora-gel or any other temporary pain reliever then try to get an appointment with your dentist. defiently let him know your concerns and you should be able to get your pain taken care ofHealth Question & Answer
