Uh oh. Tooth infection. You need to make an appointment with your dentist ASAP - call tomorrow morning and get yourself in early. Feeling pain in the tooth (as opposed to just sensitivity to heat/cold/sweets) means that the infection is in the nerves of the tooth, caused by an untreated cavity that has caused decay in the center of the tooth. In the best case scenario, you're looking at a filling. But, if the pain is very severe, its more likely going to need a root canal, or possibly extraction if the infection progresses to a bad abscess (noticeable by a painful bulge in the gum).
The sooner you are seen, the less painful treatment will be, and the sooner your painful toothache can be taken care of. This sort of thing will not go away on its own, so you MUST be seen ASAP.

In the meantime, gargling with hydrogen peroxide (do NOT swallow), ice on the outside of the mouth (so it affects the tooth through the flesh), and OTC pain medication may help a little - though nothing will touch the core of the pain until you see a dentist. The dentist will give you an antibiotics script and possibly an additional one for pain medication.

In the future, remember how important dental hygiene is! Brush at least twice a day, if not three times, and floss!! Candy and chocolate only cause real problems because you allow the sugar to sit on the teeth and wear away at your enamel, doing irreparable damage.

also, you should be seeing a dentist every SIX months for regular cleanings and check-ups. Your information suggests that you are having problems with at least one tooth and possibly more, which indicates to me that you have probably been lax with regular visits to the dentist and at-home dental care. You should ask for a full exam when you see your dentist TODAY OR TOMORROW, as there may in fact be multiple other problems going on. Better to take care of things now than let them fester again.
Keep those six-month visits! It's as important an appointment as your physical, and it prevents problems like this from occurring by early detection of any issues and prevention of continuation of decay. You need to have these check-ups, or you will continue to have dental emergencies.

Good luck, and make that appointment!Health Question & Answer
