its really nothing at all. before you get them.. you feel normal.. haha, and you have crooked teeth. during the time that you get them you mostly just sit there with this big thing in your mouth to hold back your lips from getting in the way.. you might want to bring chapstick because after having your lips in that thing they get all dry and hurt. but other than that, you dont feel anything during it.. they dont give you a shot to numb you or anything because it doesnt hurt at all.. all they do is squirt a little adhesive onto your tooth with a needle (dont freak out when they take the needle out, its just to squrt the stuff on your teeth.. i practically screamed when i saw the needle) and then they place the bracket on the adhesive and use a blue light thing to set it. i got my braces the day of halloween and thought it would suck, but i ate all the candy i wanted (except starburst) and it didnt hurt. they two next days after is when you'll feel your teeth pull, you might want to take some advil, but its never a dying pain. be prepared to eat apple sauce and smoothies though, because when you're not used to the "teeth-pulling" feeling, it will hurt.

Before you get your braces, your teeth are most likely crooked and in need of dental care. During the process of braces, it doesn't particularly hurt. The bracket placement may pinch a little, but nothing too dramatic.
After: The most dreaded experience of all brace-face, train-tracked, cheese-graters. Soreness is often explained for the first week of your new braces.
You will regret getting them on and wish them off occasionally. This feeling of hatred is common, and normal. I'd be glad to hear your worries and questions, just e-mail me.

Here is exactly what my orthodontist did:
(I got on the metal bands last week already)
1) Cleaned my top teeth and rinsed.
2) Put in the plastic lip separator
3) Put some gross tasting stuff on my teeth (glue)
4) Placed on each bracket on my tooth with a tweezer
5) The assistant lady shined the blue plasma light on my teeth (to help the glue dry)
6) Put the archwire through all the brackets
7) Put on the little rubber band things (I got silver for my first time)
Thats it! My lips were EXTREMELY dry after the process so put on a bunch of chapstick.Health Question & Answer

they get this plaster stuff and make a mold of you teeth. it makes you gag because it almost goes down your throat. ( my sis puked )
when that is done, they put glue on your teeth and put a bracket on. they use a blue light so they glue will dry.
the glue is really sour and yucky

If you're young, you're getting them at the right time! I was too chicken to do it as a teen so didn't until 26, and let me tell you, it hurt like the dickens and I had to have strong vicodin to ease the pain! But kids almost always say it doesn't hurt. You're still growing so it's ok.Health Question & Answer
