Orthodontists suggest but in no way can they decide for you or "make you" have braces. Its up to you. orthos are trying to help but you arent forced to folow their advice though they ARE the experts. they cant make you pay but they will tell whether you actually NEED them cause its a huge waste of money if you dont even need them. basically it both you, your parents( if you r a kid) and the ortho and family dentist.Health Question & Answer
Well the dentist doesn't necessarily choose for you, but he does recommend what is best for you. I used to have braces a long time ago, and I can tell you, it is not all that bad as you think. Trust me, in the long run, you'll tend to be happy that you got them.

yes. if your teeth are naturally straight, you won't need them. but your parents might choose to get them or not. i don't think you have a choice. Health Question & Answer
