My Invisalign is cutting me!?!
Question: My Invisalign is cutting me!.?
My Invisalign braces has a lot of sharp edges that is cutting my mouth all to hell...and currently, I have a cut on my gum from it scratching me every time I swallow. I cant shave it down with an Exact-o Knife and run the risk of ruining it, and I cant boil them like a friend suggested because that will make them loose and they will be useless.

You could get some dental wax. It is ply able and you could press some of it on the area that is sharp or sticking out. I would only use this temporally until you can get to your dentist to have it repaired or reshaped.Health Question & Answer
we make invisalign aligners for our patients all the time and they never cut their gums, or at least ive never been told, if this is the case, i would take them back to the office, you can run the risk of infection by having open cuts in your mouth, so i would suggest calling your office and asking for an emergency appt so the dentist can take them down a bit, if its something he cant do then he can send them back to california for repair or new ones. dont do anything on your own, you will most likely have to pay for a new set on your own. aligners come in a series of sets that gradually make changes in your oral appearance, ruinng or changing aligners without the knowledge of how to do it may change your end result, because if that aligner is altered, it may not complete its job, resulting in a missed step. Try filing the edge with a steel nail file until you can get to the orthodontist, who will cut it back with a tool designed for that purpose.Health Question & Answer
