congratulations! i got mine off two years ago and it was really easy:
they cut the wire off, just like they would if they changed the wire any other time. they had almost a plier looking device they used to just squeeze each bracket and they popped off real easy, didn't hurt at all! they used some kind of sander to sand off the glue, and ask you to check and make sure everything is nice and smooth (which is SUCH a great feeling!)

if you're getting the permanent retainer on the bottom (which most people do today) they will fix that and make sure the glue is smooth. it might feel weird against your tongue for the first week or two but your tongue gets real used to it. my orthodontist actually shaped my teeth to be square because they were rounder so now thy look great. the only thing that hurt was when he sanded the two front bottom teeth, because they've always been sensitive.

they'll make sure the retainer fits and make any necessary adjustments to it and you will be done! but make sure you WEAR your retainer!!! i stopped wearing mine two years after i got my braces off and one of the front teeth moved backwards just a little bit but now i have invisilign to fix it (but he thinks only 1-2 months of it!) so wear it, wear it, wear it!!!

as far as whitening goes, going to your dentist is the best, but crest whitestrips premium have worked the best for me. don't get the crest supreme that the dentist sells; it has 3 weeks work of usage and i only used 1 (which still did whiten my teeth) but i would just be doing nothing and my teeth would sting BAD and my mouth would water. i've never had any side affects like that from the premium ones. i've been using the crest pro-health whitening toothpaste too and have noticed they are whitening my teeth as well, so try those together. good luck!Health Question & Answer

aww i got my braces off too (like 3 months before) and i was really excited too!!
It depends on the dentist on weather it hurts or not. For me is didn't (or i don't remember if it did).
But then i got sucky retainers after that. (retainers really suck) I couldn't talk AT ALL for a few days, when I tried it sounded like a had a major lisp!! (not cool). I still hate it even today (if braces didn't show i'd rather have braces) You have to take them off before you eat even when your chewing gum! I ate those lollipops with the gum in the center yesturday and it got stuck to my retainer!! I had to pick them out with a toothpick...It also depends if your getting retainers and which kind you get.
I didn't find any whitneings that worked for me if you do plz tell me.
I know i didn't help so i probably should'nt keep blabbering on.Health Question & Answer

Hi, congratulations!
I got my braces off about 2 years ago and it is such a great feeling!
Well, first they cut the wire in the back near the metal pieces wrapped around your molar, then they just pop off the brackets one by one. It doesn't hurt at all! I was shocked! Then they take the metal pieces on your molars off, which doesnt hurt either, just a little pressure. After all the metal is off, they start to drill off the cement. That part is a little uncomfortable, but it doesnt hurt. The noise is just kind of scary! hah! after they have drilled all the cement off you go and rinse your teeth with water. After that you go to get your retainer molds. That part is so funny! They put these huge things in your mouth filled with cement and you have to bite down on it. It will feel like you cant breath, but all you have to do is stay calm and breath through your nose and dont gag!! Then you go home with beautiful teeth, then stop by the next day for retainers! Retainers arent fun the first couple of days, they make you gag and they are uncomfortable, but in about 2 weeks they wont be a big deal. They wont be uncomfotable anymore because they have streched to fit you well.
Good Luck!

It won't hurt at all when you get it removed.

Your orthodontist should be whitening it for you after the removal. I had it after I got mine removed and somehow it made my teeth REALLY smooth, that was cool haha. Too bad it didn't last though.

So basically the orthodontist will scrape off each brackets (since they use glue to stick to your teeth) and that's it. It won't hurt at all since your teeth are strong :P

You'll feel weird for a few days.. like something in your mouth is missing.

You have nothing to worry about :] congrats on getting it off!Health Question & Answer

Commercial tooth whiteners use hydrogen peroxide and are expensive and inconvenient. A cheap and natural tooth whitening home remedy uses few strawberries but certain precautions have to be taken. I found the information at http://www.aches.in/toothwhitening.html
