Answers:
If you have a blister that looks like a pimple and is draining pus, this is called a fistula. It works as a small, thin, track or tube which allows the built up infection at the root or apex of the tooth, an exit route.

There are two types of abscesses; an actual tooth abscess will involve either decay or trauma to the tooth causing the nerve or pulp to die, and then there is a perio abscess which involves the soft tissue, ligament and bone attachment surrounding a tooth, this abscess is cause by a developing pocket which traps bacteria causing an infection to form, this infection can lead to permanent damage to the tissue, ligaments and bone that support the tooth and can lead to loss of the tooth. Both can be very excruciating, especially at night when they have a tendency to throbb and ache keeping a patient up most of the night.

If your symptoms are as I've described then you will have no choice but to see your dentist for an evaluation and treatment. This type of problem doesn't go away on it's own, it will have to be treated by your dentist.

Now if all you have is a small blister without any real pain, it might be possible that you've bumped your mouth with your tooth brush or something else and caused a sore to form, I can't say for sure since I can't examine you. For now I would advise rinsing with warm salt water swishing well over the blister area. If it's not better in a few days or pain becomes worse, then see your dentist for treatment.Health Question & Answer

You should see your dentist to make sure what it is. A canker sore can sometimes look similar to a abscess. Contrary to belief, a abscess does not always hurt. I have seen many abscesses when a patient just came in for a cleaning and didn't have any pain. I would notice the "bubble" and take an x-ray to see if it is a abscess. When an abscess tooth has a bubble, it usually doesn't hurt because it is draining out of that area. It's when there is not a bubble is when it hurts because it is building up pressure.
It is definately not an allergy......
It could be just a burn, or a canker sore, or an irritation from acidic foods, but it's a good chance it could be an abscess. It's worth your time just to call the dentist and tell them it is there. They will take a single xray and tell you what it is. Health Question & Answer

sometimes a blister is just a blister. You may have bitten the inside of your mouth while you were asleep, you may have eaten something too acidic and it resulted in a blister. If you haven't cleaned your teeth for a while you get a condition called sordes that can cause blisters. Just rinse regularly with salty water or put some baby teething gel on it. If there is swelling, bad pain, a discharge or it doesn't go away in a day or two, then get to a dentist. Even them it may not be an abscess, but better to be safe than sorry.Health Question & Answer
