Wisdom teeth and infection?!
Question: Wisdom teeth and infection.?
My boyfriend, his wisdom teeth are coming in and he's thinking that it doesn't quite feel right, he's in a lot of pain and he thinks there could be an infection, he's going to the dentist this Tuesday, but were wondering what kind of infection he could have, if he does have one. Any thoughts on this.? Know of any infections that could occur.?

With wisdom teeth, sometimes they don't have enough room to come all the way in so the gum tissue around it is not as firm as other teeth. It's easy to get debris down in there and it's also harder to clean this area, which leads to an infection. Health Question & Answer

When wisdom teeth come in, for some people (i.e. me), it can be excruciatingly painful. I don't know if I would necessarily call that a symptom of infection though. Unless his gum are overly swollen with puss coming out of it, I don't think it's an infection. Good thing he's already got an appt. with the doc. It's probably just the pain from the wisdom teeth coming in. Infection is more of a worry AFTER you have the wisdom teeth taken out since you got an open wound. Health Question & Answer

itisnot necessary thatthe wisdom teeth are infected if they are painful. some times when the space for there eruption is less tat is if they are impacted then also they pain. Do warm saline rinses till then. For more information on wisdom teeth you can read the following very informative article
