Did you eat something hot or crunchy recently.? Could be a burn or cut on your gum tissue, those can be rather painful...Or something could be wedged in your gums. i.e. popcorn kernel or poppy seeds.?

Gently brush that area, and then floss to dislodge anything that might be there. Warm salt water rinse might help too if there is any inflammation.

Hopefully you can enjoy your dad's lasagna!Health Question & Answer

It could be that it is inflamed. The gum becomes inflamed when food gets lodged under the gum line. Try using an electric tooth brush and floss to dislodge the particles. Rinse with peroxide and water, half and half.Health Question & Answer
