Hey, I just got braces 2 days ago, I actually thought they were still cleaning my teeth, but they had started putting them on. They don't hurt at first, but that night before you go to bed, it might start to hurt. They practically squish your teeth together, and for a while, you can't really clench your teeth together. They feel like they are SMUSHING your teeth together.. and pulling your jaw apart. But then after a day they won't hurt too much. Don't worry too much about it! All my friends think I have a prettier smile now because braces look cool~
I haven't tried it, but if the wires stick out, you could use Anbesol, or dental wax. You can buy it at pharmacies, or you can get it at your orthodontist. Make sure you get some because at first you might think that none of the wires are sticking out, but when you get home, you realize that lil sucker in the back is ripping your cheek~ Wax will become your best friend.~

When they first get put on they'll make your mouth feel sore, but it really isn't to bad, and they'll feel sore again whenever you get them adjusted.
Don't be nervous. it's easy to make your braces an accessory! every couple weeks when the elastics get changed, get your other friends in on the color choice :) you can do rainbow, or festive, my fav was watermelon! pink on top and green on the bottom. some times they'll have glow in the dark elastics!Health Question & Answer

so what if your other friends dont have them, they probably will, and when all is said and done, you will have reallllly nice straight teeth!!! They dont hurt to get them put on, it will be a little sore maybe a day or two after because your teeth will be getting moved a tiny bit at a time, Its nothing too unbearable though, and believe me braces are SO worth it. I had crazy teeth before my braces LOL now i have really straight teeth that i'm proud to show off, I can never thank my parents enough for getting me braces when i was younger.Health Question & Answer
all i would say is that it does not hurt at all to get them on.
just that day and a couple of days later it hurts because your teeth are not used to it and they are pushing together.
so just eat soft foods like mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and that stuff.
you will be alright after the pain goes away.
also take advil or tylenol.

No, it does not hurt that much. The worst part is getting your wire put on. It feels tight and will make your mouth ache for a little bit. Take a dose of pain killer about an half an hour before you go, and it will make it a lot easier.
Another word of advice take pain killer each time before you get them tightened as well.

depends. like when my friend got them she could eat the very same day. when i got them i couldnt eat solids for about a week. but i've had a history of bad teeth XP and when u first get them they wont hurt the second they are put on it may take a while until the pain sets in , if there is any. but for me it hurt like hell . for others it doesnt hurt at all. when you first get them, like wires and rubber bands, you feel a lot of pressure in your mouth. in about a day or two days + you feel normal in your teeth... really.
don't worry if your friends doesn't have them or not.
