Is it painful when you get braces. also will i need to get my wisdom teeth removed?!

Question: Is it painful when you get braces. also will i need to get my wisdom teeth removed.?
i have a couple questions about getting braces. when i was younger, i went to the dentist and he told me that i needed my wisdom teeth removed. i never got them taken out and recently when i went to the dentist he told me that i can hold on to them as long as i can keep them clean. what i want to know is if i would have to get my wisdom teeth removed to get braces. i heard that getting wisdom teeth removed is a pain and i also heard that getting braces is very painful. as far as dental procedures i am pretty good. i had the injection in the roof of the mouth and had a tooth pulled with no problem (the only thing that bothers me without being painful is drilling :/ ) so i am usually pretty good with pain as far as that goes, but how painful is it to get the braces put on, how often do you need to tighten them, whats the average of years having them on and can they do a payment plan with me being on disability.? please tell me what you think. thanks.Health Question & Answer

i have braces and they dont hurt THAT bad. when you first get them on, your mouth will usually feel really sore and it will be hard to eat hard foods. its frustrating but it WILL bet better over time. each time you go to get them tightened, you will feel sore again for a few days, but that will also go away.

i had 4 wisdom teeth pulled, and two random ones on the top taken out all at once. it depends on what the orthodontist thinks. you take medicine that mellows you out before hand, and they numb you up, so the teeth getting pulled doesnt hurt. you will feel sore for a day or two though.

its not that bad, and in the end youll have pretty, straight teeth.Health Question & Answer

hey, i have braces. they really arent as bad as people make it seem, all they do is have the metal braces in some rubber thing, and they make you bite down on the rubber and they braces just slip on to your teeth, then they just use the cement stuff to make them stick to your teeth. the first few days will kinda hurt, youll need to stick with like yogurt and jello for awhile, after that when you get them tightened it doesnt hurt.

Ive got braces and it didnt hurt at all when i got them on but the next day they will be a little sore so put like oragel on it. But the wisdom teeth being pulled is going to hurt a little just drink a cold milkshake or something it tastes good and helps ur teeth feel better.Health Question & Answer

i had both done to me. got braces AND got my wisdom teeth removed. really, for me, it wasnt that painful. theres nothing to bad if your as tough as you say you are Health Question & Answer

1. It is not painful getting the braces put on. You will experience some discomfort a few hours later as the teeth actually start to shift and when the brackets begin to irritate your soft tissue.
2. Your orthodontist can tell you if you should have the wisdom teeth removed. I personally don't think you need them. They're very hard to keep clean, if you do get decay they are VERY hard to work on and in my opinion, most people end up having more discomfort and cost in keeping them!
3. I have to see my orthodontist every 5 weeks. He doesn't tighten them but they do take off the ties (little rubber bands) and wires, evaluate the position of my teeth since the last appointment and then he comes up with a new plan for the next 5 weeks (such as a different kind of wire, chains, etc).
4. Traditional braces can average 12-48 months. Invisalign is less (I don't know for sure how much less) and Sure Smile can be as little as 7 months. Everyone is different, every case is different and every orthodontist is different. There isn't one correct answer!
I can't answer the payment plan but from what I hear....most do offer a monthly plan.
Good luck!Health Question & Answer

Not gonna lie, your teeth will probably be sore for a day or two when they first put the braces on, but it's tolerable and it shouldn't last long. Your orthodontist should be able to tell you how often they need to be tightened. And as for getting your wisdom teeth out, only your dentist can tell you. It isn't as horrible as it sounds. My face was swollen for a few days, but they'll give you painkillers to keep everything tolerable, and it's only temporary. also, you'll just have to ask your orthodontist about payment plans.Health Question & Answer
