Chipped Tooth at Gumline near front teeth, lower jaw?!

Question: Chipped Tooth at Gumline near front teeth, lower jaw.?
Hi,

I have a dentist appt. set up because I chipped my tooth for some reason, I was using my sonic care tooth brush at the time, but for the last while had noticed sensitivity.

Anyhow, all of a sudden while rinsing there was a piece of tooth, at first I didn't know where it came from.

It is close to the front, gumline, and about the size of two sesame seeds. It just broke off. Now it is sensitve as hell.

What do you think they will do.? Will they crown it or just fill it.? Yikes! I go to the dentist 2X a year for check ups and cleanings, but this really has me freaked out.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
It depends on if the tooth was broken past the gumline. If it was above the gumline more than likely they will just fill it with a tooth-colored filling, if not then you are probably facing a crown. Health Question & Answer

maybe you just had an old filling that came out, even if it is under the gumline the dentist should be able to retract your gums with packing cord to do a filling, a filling will cost alot less $$ than a crown...Health Question & Answer
