I had all four of my wisdom teeth cut out last week thursday. The pain just seems to be getting worse whenever I lay down. Is it safe to use oragel on the areas with my stitches to help with the pain.?Health Question & Answer
Answers:
Do not use oragel. It is not for open areas. Call the oral surgeon tell him your still in pain. It maybe a dry socket or one of the stitches poking you. Try rinsing with warm salt water and using tylenol til he can see you.Health Question & Answer
Take pain killer tablet precribed by dentist and also the antibiotics. You can do warm saline rinses for 3-4 times a day, this will help. Do not put anything on the area of stitches. The pain will go in another 2-3 days. For more information on tooth extraction do's and don'ts you can read the following article from a very informative dental website

BRITTY,
there is no way this could ever be DRY SOCKET because if it's going to happen it's within 24-48 hours after extraction.
Normal post operative pain for several days is not unusual. If surgical extractions were done in which bone was removed, the discomfort is not unusual.
Advil 2-3 tabs every 4-6 hours for a few days until the discomfort improves. Rinsing with lukewarm salt water three times per day will speed healing and recoveryHealth Question & Answer
