Question: I got my Upper Braces & Palatal expander.?
I got my Upper Braces and Palatal Expander 3days ago, and when I eat food gets stuck in the top gap of the Expander, I have to use my tongue to get it out, will it always do that.? also when will the braces sourness go away.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
You will get food stuck between the palatal expander and the roof of your mouth for the duration of the time it is in there unfortunately. The good news is that a Waterpik or similar device works beautifully to remove any debris that might get stuck up there. also, ask your orthodontist at your next visit for a water syringe....it is plastic and looks like a hypodermic syringe but with no needle...you can draw water up in it and use it like a waterpik when you are away from home.

You typed "sourness"...did you mean "soreness".? After the initial placement of braces the teeth begin to move and they will be sore for about 2-3 days. Sometimes this period of time is longer in more sensitive people. Everyone is different. You poor thing, you got a lot done at one time with both the braces and the expander. So your adjustment time may be longer. Try taking an over the counter pain reliever. also rinsing with warm salt water helps. And see if your orthodontist has a thing called a "bite wafer".....it is a horseshoe shaped rubber piece and you squeeze your teeth into it for a few seconds at a time and that can relieve soreness too. It does this by increasing the blood flow to the roots of your teeth.
I hope I have answered all of your questions and i wish you the best with your treatment.Health Question & Answer

the soreness shouldn't stay for to long and if it does you should tell your orthodontist and food is most likely going to keep getting stuck in your teeth but there are thing you can get to get the food out with out hurting your tongueHealth Question & Answer
