Question: Retainer.? Must i wear it ALL day.?
I had braces for 2 years and now have retainers for my top and bottom teeth. I was told to wear it all day and all night, but do i really have to put it on during the day.? I mean if it fits at night then aren't i ok. I do have a small space in the back of my top teeth because i still have one last tooth to come out, but do i have to wear it all day.?Health Question & Answer

I didn't wear my retainer after I got my braces off. But I got lucky and my teeth did not move back. They are still straight. But don't be like me! You don't want to chance getting braces again and I guarantee your parents will be very upset if they have to pay for those things again.

The first person was right, you need to wear them all day. I know someone who didn't wear her retainer right after getting her braces off and now her teeth are all messed up again. I know it's a pain but it'll be worth it. Wait until your orthodontist tells you it's ok to just wear them at night, but until then, wear them all the time. Health Question & Answer

Your teeth want to shift back to their original state after braces. If you don't wear your retainers all day long for the recommended time, then you could have a relapse..
