I have a question about dentures...?!

Question: I have a question about dentures....?
I currently have 8 in the front (top of my mouth) and 1 one the top side. However the one on the side always hurts and I need to get one of the front ones complety pulled. Now my problem is I can't decide if dentures or partials would be better. I was needing some one to please give me your opinions on what would be better. I am only 26 years old so It makes me real sad and embarresed to talk about this to anyone else. Please HelpHealth Question & Answer

If I had this scenario in front of me I would ask for a full evaluation of the remaining teeth and a plan to preserve them. Age should not be the deciding factor as to whether a full denture or a partial denture would be best but the condition of your remaining teeth. A full denture should be the last resort. Granted if all things were equal and finances not an issue I would opt for implants.

You say you have 8 teeth currently, how many would be left after the front ones are extracted.? Would there be enough left to keep a partial denture stable.?

Full upper dentures are much easier to deal with than full lower dentures, investigate your options and feel free to ask more questions.

If the teeth you have are also going to be bad in a few years, You might want to get a denture, There is a new thing that they do for a full upper or full lower denture, Mini Implants hold (Snap) them into place, which makes them less bulky, they can cut some of it away, and it will really just be along your gum. Being young i understand the embrassement, and maybe them fear of them falling out at an inappropriate time, also the mini implants are far less expensive then reg implants, I believe they can place 4, for around 1,500 or so, depending on where you live. You would only need 4 for the whole denture to be secure, I am also young, 30 and I have HORRIBLE teeth also, So i understand how you feel, Having to do things like this so young, I had to have 10 teeth pulled, And it does make you feel bad.. But don't cause your not the only one, and I am sure there people you know that have been in the same boat, It just that Nobody EVER talks about it Health Question & Answer

I'm kind of torn. Part of me would suggest partials to you that way you can keep your good teeth, but then the other part of me says atleast if you got dentures they would all be pretty and straight. Do the ones you have look bad.?

I'm sorry for you!Health Question & Answer

get partials if you still have "good" teeth in your mouth. keep what u can. if you do loose another tooth later on, you can always have it added to your partial..GOOD LUCKHealth Question & Answer
