Will a dentist usually re-charge you, for his mistake?!

Question: Will a dentist usually re-charge you, for his mistake.?
The dental work has been alot, in one month..So far 8 teeth have been filled, and 1 root canal, on one of the fillings I am having sharp pain when I bite down, It was filled last week. and researching online seems to point to a few things, But my main question is.? Will the dentist fix what they did without charging me again for the same tooth again.?.? Or do they generally Re-Charge.?.? All of this work is being done without insurence, and my bank account is so low from it.. Plus everyday life things also, so i would hate to have to pay for it again.. Can someone tell me there experience with this sort of thing. also I had no pain at all on that tooth before, just a cavityHealth Question & Answer

your filling may be high, just go back and have him check it, they should not charge you for that, just have them take a look at it. now if the filling was really deep your nerves may be irritated, hopefully that'll go away as time passes by and if not you'll need a root-canal and a crown, but that would be the worst case... also it has nothing to do with the color of the filling, doesn't matter if it's amalgam or compositeHealth Question & Answer

My dentist filled a small cavity and within days the filling fell out. I returned to him and he filled it again. AGAIN, within days the filling fell out! So then he enlarged the cavity and filled it again. He then said he was "only going to charge me half price for it." I went to the front desk and questioned this. I asked "What percentage of this charge will my insurance company cover.?" She answered, "None, because they will pay only one time on any tooth within two years." In other words, the insurance companies expect dental work to be good for at least two years. So I said, "Well, if they won't pay a second time, neither will I." I then got a letter from the dentist saying he would not charge me but that he was not responsible for that tooth anymore.
So you might get the work done again and then simply refuse to pay again, citing insurance company guidelines. But don't tell the dentist beforehand of your intentions.
The bottom line is you did not get what you paid for the first time. Nobody should have to pay for the dentist's mistakes except the dentist. Health Question & Answer

From personal experience, this is sort of common. Patients usually come into our office with the same problem. It indicates a couple of things: (1) either You had a gray filling and it was replaced with a white filling and your tooth doesn't like it, sometimes ur dentist has to change it back to gray. w/out charge.

You need to be evaluated for a root canal treatment, ur dentist can take an X-ray or other methods are available for pre-evaluating ur tooth before referring you out to a specialist or actually doing the treatment themselves.

you need to go back into ur dental office and tell them what is going on, your dentist should not recharge you for doing this. also, dentist who know that their patients are paying out of pocket tend to cut back on the fees. So let them know your situation while scheduling your appoiment. They should be accommodating.

generally, they do not recharge for something like this.

Unless, it turns out that you need a root canal. You can't expect anyone to perform a root canal for free.Health Question & Answer

It depends what the problem is. If the problem is caused by a "mistake," then most dentists will fix it. If the sharp pain is because the filling is too high, then you shouldn't be charged for an adjustment (high fillings are pretty common..) But you have to realize that a lot of problems aren't the dentist's fault...For example, if the filling was really deep and you need a root canal. In that case, it's likely that the dentist did everything he could to avoid root canal treatment, which sometimes isn't good enough. Just make sure to ask the dentist what the exact problem is and what the cause was.

also, BEFORE you have treatment, the dentist should explain the risks and benefits to you, and what could happen if things don't go as planned, which they sometimes don't.Health Question & Answer
