My teeth definitely need braces but i don't go to the dentist until after christmas. I was wondering, when do u think i will get braces.? He hasn't recommended any orthos yet and he said that i MIGHT need braces the last time he saw me,but my whole fam knows i need bracesHealth Question & Answer

Make sure that your parents know that you want braces and make sure they are willing. It's up to them after all. At your next dentist appointment, have your parents let your dentist know that you are interested in getting braces and he should talk to you about it. Some dentists will recommend an orthodontist, some won't. Your family can take it into their own hand if he doesn't and talk to some orthodontists in your area. Pick the one that is right for you and your family. You don't necessarily need to go to your dentist's recommended ortho. The dentist can usually tell when the Orthodontist will want to see you by the shape of your mouth and the way your teeth are lined. My oldest daughter (15) got her braces when she was 8. The dentist told me when she was 6 that she was going to need "early braces". She started seeing an orthodontist when she was 7 and he put the braces on when she was 8. My second daughter is 11 now. The dentist just said "she may need braces". Her teeth are pretty crooked on the bottom, but she is still loosing baby teeth. Her problem is different than my older ones. My son is 6. The dentist told me at the same visit as my middle one that he is going to need "early braces". So I assume that my middle one will get hers on when she is 12-14 like average kids, and my son will probably get his when he is 8 like my older daughter. You just have to wait it out. Well once your dentist recommends an orthodontist and you schedule an oppointment, it might be a month. then you might need a pallate expander, which is like a retainer on the top, or bottom, of your mouth to expand the inside of your mouth, so it might take up to 6-9 months until you actually get braces.Health Question & Answer
well i just recently got braces and it takes a couple of months from your referral to the point when you get them on.
they have to take a cast of your mouth to see where your braces will go and they have to remove any teeth and let your gum heal then make a time to put them on..

Depends, I just went to the orthodontist last week and she said I will be getting them next month. I still need my X-Rays and Molds. So if you go see an orthodontist after Christmas, you will probably get them in January. It is very exciting waiting to get braces!Health Question & Answer
Well first of all how old r u and if your 1-7, you might not get braces, if your 8 and up, you might get a chance of getting braces.
