My jaw keeps on locking up. Please help?!
Question: My jaw keeps on locking up. Please help.?
My jaw keeps on locking up on the left side. It just started 15 minutes ago and i thought "I just popped it out of place" it does the same thing on the right side sometimes. It hurts not that bad and i wont be able to see the dentist maybe in december or january.? My dad doesn't have insurance yet. I don't know when i will see the regular dentist. I hope soon. Maybe it will be unpopped in the morning. I had my gum operated on a few years ago because i had a sist. It would of started a long time ago. Please helpHealth Question & Answer

Does it happen early in the day.? Are the muscles around your temples and jaw sore.? You may have TMJ caused by grinding your teeth at night.
Regardless of the cause of your joint problem, there is no easy answer here - just take it easy on chewy/hard foods, use ibuprofen to deal with any discomfort, and watch your posture during the day. (If your tongue is resting on your lower teeth, this is a sign that you are slouching and putting stress on your jaw. Sit up properly and you'll notice your tongue rests against the roof of your mouth.)
If tension is contributing, look into relaxation techniques - whatever works for you. Yoga, breathing exercises, supplements, massage all may be helpful, especially right before you go to sleep.
When you do see a dentist, be very careful. Start with non-invasive treatments like physiotherapy and mouthguards. They may try to push TMJ surgery on you - but once you start down that path, it does not always help and may make it worse. Tread carefully.
Good luck!

Sounds like TMJ to me. See a dentist as soon as you can. The treatment isn't cheap, so insurance will be a big help.
