I have an abscess on a tooth that has already been filled once before, and quite a bit of the tooth was filled. Is this abscess more likely as a result of poor oral hygiene, or that the dentist did not remove all of the cavity when he performed the filling.?Health Question & Answer

If it was a very large filling, then an abscess is not abnormal. Poor oral hygiene can be a contributor, especially if there is new decay on the tooth. You will likely need a root canal and crown.Health Question & Answer
If all the tooth was not filled than a cavity could happen later. I didn't know dentist filled teeth any more. They always tell me CROWN CROWN $$$$$$$.Health Question & Answer
