Why haven't you simply had the tooth extracted.? There is no reason to wait for swelling to go down in 14 days or whatever. As you have unfortunately found out, things can actually get worse. It is this incorrect use of antibiotics that leads to bacterial resistance, and the risk of you developing a spreading infection rather than controlling it.
The tooth should be removed first (or a root canal therapy started), and THEN the antibiotics are prescribed if there is significant swelling.
If you had an infected splinter of wood in your arm, would you take antibiotics for days and days, waiting for the swelling to go down.?
Of course not - you would pull the damn thing out as a first step! If the dentist tries to fob you off with antibiotics BEFORE removing the tooth, then in my opinion he is guilty of negligent treatment that could endanger your life. Get serious!Health Question & Answer

Sometimes a tooth can be too far gone for antibiotics to work so tell your dentist you want it gone asap. There's a chance he won't pull it if it's still abscessed because you can have an adverse reaction if the abscess fluid gets into your blood stream.Tell him you can't take the pain any more.Health Question & Answer

That must be one heck of an infection. Why not call your dentist. S/he might want to try something else before working on an infected tooth. Health Question & Answer
