I still have mine...but a friend of mine just got hers out...she's 21...i hear its worse the older you get. She was out of work for at least a week and a half. She said they give you pain meds, but it doesn't help the pain...her throat is still sore and its been almost 2 weeks. She said it's like strep times 10. If I were you, I would see about getting them out now, while you're younger. There can be more complications when you get older.Health Question & Answer
You already know how much it hurts with strep throat. Just think of that. Your doc will either knock you out or put you under a local pain killer an just cut out the tonsils.

omg me and my 4 siblings had the same thing! and we had to get ours out right before christmas but the pain depends on how old u are and how big ur gland is but like my little brothers and sister could talk hours after we left the hospital but i couldnt talk or eat anything but warm water for a week it was horrible for me, probly the worst pain in my life lol hope i didnt scare u!Health Question & Answer
