Root canal or just pull them out?!

Question: Root canal or just pull them out.?
So, I went to the dentist yesterday and I need 3 root canals. My tooth number 2 (second from the back on the top left side), number 15 (second from the back on the top right side) and number 31 (second from the back on the bottom right side). Tooth number 2 they are not sure they would be able to save and might just have to pull it out after trying. Tooth number 15 they can save but it severely broken, and is already useless considering i can't even chew with that side of my mouth really. Would you still go through with the root canals or just pull out those 2.? Tooth number 2 is causing me so much pain, and it would be easier to come up with $150 to pull it out, than $800 to try and fix it, if they can. By pulling out both teeth I would be saving about $1300.Health Question & Answer

even if it's severely broken, (unless it's hopelessly broken) you can save it and make it useful by doing root canal ( cleaning out bad nerve and filling that area with nerve filling and cement), and crown (like a cap to build up broken tooth). if it's successful, you will be able to chew on that tooth without discomfort. I don't know how severe they are. but, if there is chance, I would try to save. If you pull them out, that is not the end of story. You may be out of pain, but adjacent teeth may shift and lower opposing teeth probably will come up into the space where tooth is missing. And you may end up with other problem. root canal and crown are not free. So, no one can force you. But I would try to hold on to them if possible. Health Question & Answer

Pull all three. I've had 4 root canals with crowns in the last 2 years but only because they were visible teeth and ones that I use alot apparantly. These are your back ones that are nevr seen, they are hard as heck to clean back there and chances are if all 3 don't come out then the one that's left won't connect with anything else for chewing anyway which makes it useles.. I say pull all 3.Health Question & Answer

The problem is, those are chewing teeth, if you pull them, you need to replace them, and that can get expensive, too. And if pulled and not replaced, your other teeth will shift and cause big gaps in places you might not want them. My husband and son are going through the same thing right now. Don't always look for the cheap way out, look for the best way to do it.Health Question & Answer

Try to save them!! By pulling them you are going to seriously compromise the rest of your dental anatomy. Your teeth are going to move to fill in the places made empty. It is never a good idea to just pull your teeth. Get root canal treatment! It costs much more in the long run, with partials, dentures, implants, and such when you pull them out!Health Question & Answer
