They gassed me to put me under. It smells awful, but it makes you feel really fuzzy and really really sleepy. They put in an IV to keep me out during the procedure. I don't know if they would do that for you. Mine were not ruptured and were impacted.
My jaw was really sore when I woke up, and I drooled a lot. They should give you some nice drugs for the pain. Make sure you have someone to drive you home because you will be in no shape to drive yourself.
It took me a couple weeks to fully recover. This was made worse because I had to go back to work the next day.
Get a water pick. It really comes in handy when you need to get food out of the sockets. Believe me, you do NOT want to get those things infected.
Your doctor will give you a list of instructions for after. Follow them. No smoking or drinking. No drinking beverages through a straw. Stay away from foods that required chewing for the first day or so.Health Question & Answer

I didn't need no girly gas. I just had them shoot a local in there and they grabbed on with a pair of pliers and yanked them out. On one of them he had to make an incision in the gum and grind down the bone. I never felt a thing. Got 30 vicodin and a bottle of penicillin and I was fine in a week.Health Question & Answer

It is painful, but if you have a good dentist, he'll give you a local as well as nitrous oxide, which will help relax you.Health Question & Answer
