This is either just simple staining or the start of a cavity. Black marks will not always turn into a cavity and can be what is known as 'rested' ie it was the start of a cavity but has hardened up again to put it simply and not getting to technical. Dentistry from a distance is difficult and a true diagnosis is impossible without looking. See your dentist, if there is no pain it is not an emergency.Health Question & Answer
