Orthodontic Work????!

Question: Orthodontic Work.?.?.?.?

My daughter (Lindsay) is 9 yrs old and went to the Orthodontist for the first time today. He said she has to get 4 braces on her top front/next to the front teeth, a big expander, and head gear. Do you have pictures of that.? Or any advice for a 9 yr old.? Her BFF said you are sore when oyu get the expander. What about the braces and headgear.?

My sister had an expander and it was very painful. It actually breaks the palate bone and expands it over a period of weeks with daily turning of the turnbuckle. I'm sorry but sometimes those things are necessary, I feel for your daughter. The best thing is to stay on top of the pain and not let it get too severe. Take pain meds an hour before turning it so they are working at full strength. As for the headgear, it isn't painful but it is an inconvenience to wear. It doesn't have to be worn all the time but the more it is worn the sooner she won't need it. Get Lindsey a toy or something she wants to help offset the reality of something unpleasant. Mark a deadline on the calendar for a goal and let her mark off each day with a marker. Good LuckHealth Question & Answer

Im not sure aboput headgear but braces dont hurt much except when u first get them. Ask ur orthodontest if she can have some wax and cotton/cotten rolls. They really helped me :-)Health Question & Answer
