Yes, in very rare cases another "bud" will be present and another tooth will grow. But what you might have is a little chunk left from the one that was pulled and maybe a little infection started around it. Have your dentist take a picture of that, and you can tell right away. The x-ray should be pretty cheap - I hope.

While it's possible to have extras that the dentist missed, it's more likely that you may be clenching while asleep. Especially given the fact that you woke up with the sensation. The muscles involved with clenching attach very close to where the wisdom tooth came out. Of course you should have it checked by a dentist when it's convenient. Health Question & Answer
Ya I had all mine removed and the same thing happened to me. It would come and go for about a year after. I think its just part of the healing process. My gums would feel weird to- just like they were tryin to bust thru again. It will pass in time, try to ignore it and don't irritate it.Health Question & Answer
